CTT Big4 News AWS Recently #IBM008

Hello Friends, welcome to Big4 Recently

AWS, IBM, Google & Azure – the Big4 Cloud Service providers. In this article, we will explore latest AWS Recently.

Amazon Aurora with PostgreSQL Compatibility Supports Fast Database Cloning

Users of the PostgreSQL-compatible edition of Amazon Aurora users can now create quick, efficient database clones. Cloning is useful for a number of purposes including application development, testing, database updates, and running analytical queries.

You can clone an Amazon Aurora database with just a few clicks in the RDS Management Console, without impacting the production environment. The clone is distributed and replicated across 3 availability zones. You can create multiple clones of the same database, and even clones of clones.

Amazon CloudWatch Events Adds Amazon SQS FIFO as an Event Target

Amazon CloudWatch Events now supports Amazon SQS FIFO enabling you to natively route events to SQS FIFO queues.

AWS Glue now supports Apache Spark 2.2.1

AWS Glue updated its Apache Spark infrastructure to support Apache Spark 2.2.1. This allows you to take advantage of stability fixes and new features available in this version of Apache Spark.

AWS Glue is a fully managed extract, transform, and load (ETL) service that makes it easy for you to prepare and load your data for analytics. With this release, your ETL jobs and development endpoints will now run on a serverless, fully managed Apache Spark 2.2.1 environment.

AWS Glue is available in the AWS Regions US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), EU (Frankfurt), EU (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo).

AWS Glue now supports Timeout Values for ETL jobs

AWS Glue now enables you to set a timeout value on extract, transform, and load (ETL) jobs as a safeguard against runaway jobs.

Runaway ETL jobs may occur due to coding errors or data anomalies, and they can continue to consume resources without making progress. AWS Glue gives you the ability to set a timeout value on any new ETL job that you create, and edit existing jobs to specify a timeout value or use the default value. When the specified timeout limit has been reached, Glue will terminate the ETL job, stop billing for the job, and send a job TIMEOUT notification to Amazon CloudWatch. With this release, all new ETL jobs will have a default timeout value of 48 hours.

AWS Glue is available in the AWS Regions US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), EU (Frankfurt), EU (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo).

AWS Deep Learning AMIs Now Include Optimized TensorFlow 1.7 for Faster Training on Amazon EC2 C5 and P3 Instances

The AWS Deep Learning AMIs for Ubuntu and Amazon Linux now come with advanced optimizations for TensorFlow 1.7 tailored to deliver higher-performance training across Amazon EC2 C5 and P3 instances.

For CPU-based training scenarios, the AMIs now include TensorFlow 1.7 built with Intel’s Advanced Vector Instructions (AVX), SSE, and FMA instruction sets, to accelerate vector and floating point computations. The AMIs are also fully configured with Intel MKL-DNN to accelerate math routines used in neural network training on Intel Xeon Platinum processors powering Amazon EC2 C5 instances. Training a ResNet-50 benchmark with the synthetic ImageNet dataset was 9.8X faster than training on the stock TensorFlow 1.7 binaries by using our optimized build on a c5.18xlarge instance type.

Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) now Supports AWS PrivateLink

Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) now supports AWS PrivateLink. This feature helps to protect your messages from internet traffic by enabling you to use Amazon SNS inside your Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).

Amazon SNS is a reliable, scalable, and fully-managed pub/sub messaging service. With AWS PrivateLink, you can provision and use VPC endpoints to access SNS and other supported services hosted in the AWS Cloud. AWS PrivateLink provides a highly available and scalable way to access AWS services while keeping all the network traffic within the AWS network. VPC endpoints deliver reliable connectivity to Amazon SNS without requiring an internet gateway, network address translation (NAT) instance, or VPN connection.
