In this article, we will explore latest Azure Recently. So, lets jump on the updates.

Azure Standard support plan: price drop and faster initial response time

Following two changes have been made to Azure Standard support.

  • The price is being dropped from $300 USD per month to $100 USD per month for eligible Azure customers. Eligible Azure customers are those who purchased or plan to purchase Azure Standard support directly from Azure.com under Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement.
  • The initial response time for critical support cases (severity A cases) is shortened from 2 hours to 1 hour. This change applies to all Azure Standard support customers (excludes Azure Germany).

General availability: Azure DNS in Microsoft Azure Government

Azure DNS is now generally available in Microsoft Azure Government. This enables Azure customers to host DNS domains in Azure and manage their DNS records by using the same credentials, APIs, tools, billing, and support as other Azure services.

New Python solutions for Web App for Containers

Azure has introduced ready to use package for Flask, Bottle, or Django. These can be customized to build a web app for a small business or a personal web app.

New region for App Service on Linux and Web App for Containers

Azure announced the general availability of Azure App Service on Linux and Web App for Containers in September 2017. Visit this link for more detail. Now, Azure is expanding the selection of regions where App Service can be created. We can now create an App Service plan for Linux in Australia Southeast too.

Region expansion: Global VNet Peering

Azure is expanding to more support regions—enabling direct VM-to-VM connectivity without any public internet involvement or any extra hops. Global VNet Peering can be used to connect virtual networks across Azure.
