Stream Analytics GUID migration

Effective April 1, 2018, all Azure Stream Analytics customers will be migrated to new GUIDs. There won’t be any pricing impact from this change, but you might need to modify billing routines that rely on new GUID names and resource GUIDs. If your customers have existing Enterprise Agreement (EA) enrollments that were valid as of February 1, 2017, they’ll be able to use Stream Analytics at the previous pricing model until the end of their current enrollment period. At the end of this period, all Stream Analytics jobs will be migrated, and your customers will be transitioned to the new pricing model. Usage of Stream Analytics in new EA enrollments created after February 1, 2017, defaults to the new pricing model for billing purposes.

SQL Data Warehouse PolyBase load becomes easier

Delimited text files are often created with a header row that contains the column names. These rows need to be excluded from the data set during the load. Azure SQL Data Warehouse users can now skip these rows by using the First_Row option in the delimited text file format for PolyBase loads.

The First_Row option defines the first row that is read in every file loaded. By setting the value to 2, you effectively skip the header row for all files.

For more information, see the documentation for the CREATE EXTERNAL FILE FORMAT statement.

Seamlessly troubleshoot and tune query performance with SQL Data Warehouse

Unlocking faster query performance with Azure SQL Data Warehouse just got easier with the Graphical Execution Plan feature in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).

Take advantage of the familiar SQL Server query troubleshooting experience with an enhanced view that displays data movement operations of SQL Data Warehouse. You can quickly and visually identify costly steps in distributed SQL plans and take appropriate actions to fine tune and increase the performance of your queries.
