CTT Big4 News IBM Cloud Recently #IBM007

Hello Friends, welcome to Big4 Recently

AWS, IBM, Google & Azure – the Big4 Cloud Service providers. In this article, we will explore latest IBM Cloud Recently.

New Feature: Access Groups

IBM Cloud introduces access groups in April 2018 as the platform’s newest feature that makes organizing users and streamlining the assignment of access easier than ever!  Previously, IBM Cloud Identity Access and Management (IAM) required access policies to be set for individual users and service IDs. Now with access groups, you can organize users and service IDs into a group and manage access by assigning policies to the group. This will save you time and effort and make your IBM Cloud security efforts more efficient!

Introducing IBM Cloud SQL Query

SQL Query is now publicly available in the IBM Cloud as a beta service. SQL Query supports using standard ANSI SQL to analyze CSV, Parquet, and JSON files stored in IBM Cloud Object Storage.

Because SQL Query operates in a server-less fashion, you do not have to worry about sizing a server of any kind: just author a SELECT statement and submit it.

SQL Query is tightly integrated in the IBM Cloud. For example:

  • Its user interface is available from within the IBM Cloud console, and can be used to author and experiment with queries interactively.
  • Its REST API is part of the IBM Cloud API, allowing for single sign on (SSO) across IBM Cloud Object Storage and SQL Query API calls.

Security Containerized Workloads in IBM Cloud Using Aporeto

Aporeto is a Zero Trust security solution for microservices, containers and cloud. Fundamental to Aporeto’s approach is the principle that everything in an application is accessible to everyone and could be compromised at any time. Aporeto uses vulnerability data, identity context, threat monitoring and behavior analysis to build and enforce authentication, authorization and encryption policies for applications. With Aporeto, enterprises implement a uniform security policy decoupled from the underlying infrastructure, enabling workload isolation, API access control and application identity management across public, private or hybrid cloud.

Because Aporeto transparently binds to application components to provide them with identity, the result is security independent from infrastructure and network and reduction of complexity at any scale on any cloud.

Aporeto auto-generates application security policy by ingesting Kubernetes Network Policies.  You also have the option of leveraging your application dependency graph that Aporeto creates to describe the application’s behavioral intent as policies.  In every case, you may audit and edit auto-generated policies and inject human wisdom when necessary.

Once you have policies, you may simulate their enforcement at runtime to evaluate the effects of your security policies without interrupting operations. When satisfied that your security policies are solid, you may lockdown your application and protected it with a Zero Trust approach.

IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog now available in United Kingdom

IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog is now available in the United Kingdom region! This means customers now have the choice to catalog and access their data and AI assets within the UK London region if they have data residency requirements.

IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog (previously IBM Data Catalog and introduced last week) is an intelligent cataloging service that allows you to bring together and prepare analytic and AI assets, including machine learning models and structured and unstructured data, wherever they live, to power your data science and AI projects.

Here are some key capabilities of IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog that will help your users find and shape the data they need, and put them to productive use quicker than ever before:

  • Watson-powered AI recommendations provide suggestions on the most relevant data assets based on relationships between assets and how they’re being used
  • Social collaboration enables users in the community to unlock tribal knowledge through ratings and reviews
  • Automatic profiling and classification of structured and unstructured data help users understand what is in their data
  • Policy-driven data anonymization protects sensitive data from being viewed while unlocking previously unavailable data for non-production analytical needs
  • Embedded Data Refinery provides rich data preparation capabilities to interactively discover, cleanse and shape your data with 100+ data cleansing and wrangling transformations, schedule regular data flow jobs, and understand the quality and distribution of your data with built-in charts and statistics
  • Integration with IBM Information Governance Catalog (IGC) enables you to leverage your existing curated data sets and extend your on premises IGC investment to the cloud
  • Seamless integration with Watson Studiomeans your data scientists and knowledge workers can quickly use their data in a suite of powerful data science tools to build, train and deploy models

IBM Cloud Object Storage simplifies and accelerates getting data to the cloud

By 2019, about 60 percent of all enterprise workloads will be in the cloud, according to 451 Research. Only 45 percent of workloads are in the cloud now1. As this transition to cloud continues to grow, speed is an increasingly important factor for companies staying on top of their data.
Businesses across industries struggle with taking on the task of putting their data in the cloud, and online transport of large files can take multiple hours or days.

To help clients overcome this obstacle, IBM today at its THINK conference is rolling out new Cloud Object Storage services for rapid data transfer to the cloud and getting instant insights from data where it lives.

Faster data upload to the cloud

IBM is previewing the new Aspera high-speed transfer option, with which IBM Cloud Object Storage users have reported moving data to the IBM Cloud at online transfer rates hundreds of times faster* than standard http/ftp, with no charge for ingest.

The technology supports transporting large files and large collections of files of any type, regardless of transfer distance – ideal for any data-driven business, whether in media and entertainment, genomics, financial services, or other industries. Using Aspera high-speed transfer, businesses have moved 100TB of data in 24 hours over a 10Gbps network**.
